4e inhabitants make the most of whatever "shiny sciency stuff" or cruft they find laying around. A prime example of this is the multiple uses of ethernet cable. Walker Chan and Karen Chu created a full-sized hammock entirely out of ethernet cable. Andrew Westerdale and Edwin Chen used ethernet cable to for the axel and bearings of the Pikamobile.
