i think it would be fun to throw a swing number in there -- however, what i've got in that department is pretty much limited to "sing sing sing" by benny goodman (you may know this as the chips ahoy song), "zoot suit riot", and "hell" by the squirrel nut zippers (which is really awesome, but nobody will know it). thoughts?
The Brian Setzer Orchestra has many good swing songs, they are a little more "classic" in style but they are still fun. Does anybody on hall actually know how to swing dance?
- besides you and emily? not that i know of, but does it matter? it's fun music regardless of whether you know what you're doing. :)
- I know this discussion is from a year ago, but the alternative is doing my assignment, so I don't care. Cherry Poppin' Daddies, who did "Zoot Suit Riot", are really really good (by complete chance I'm actually listening to "Brown Derby Jump" by them right now). Squirrel Nut Zippers are good, don't get me wrong, but they usually don't have the polished production quality that is good for parties. The Atomic Fireballs have a somewhat darker, more primal take on swing, and they had some crossover with "Man with the Hex". And Brian Setzer and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy were both pretty successful for swing revival bands. Drew
