Mathematical Methods for Materials Scientists and Engineers

18.02 (18.03 or 18.06 is highly recommended)

Advanced Engineering Mathematics with Mathematica Supplementary Manual by Kreyszig - Not very useful, you really don't need these.

3.016 is an interesting beast. It has no tests or a final exam. Only psets (very hard psets) determine your grade. Psets also have assigned group problems that are graded separately.

The course teaches many specific topics found in 18.06 and 18.03 through Mathematica. This method has either left students absolutely loving or hating the class.

If you've taken 18.03 or 18.06 and you're interested in it applications to materials science, take 3.016.
