Proposed Rules

There's no winning without rules. So how do we go about setting this up? Tiered matches? How will scoring work?
ehufsted proposes that we go about awarding wins and losses in each Game. Then, since we have 9 games, whoever has the majority of wins is the Victor.

Super Smash Bros. and Melee

  • All matches will be 5 stock
  • 1 point per victory
  • Points will be totaled between SSB64 and Melee for a combine score.
  • Items occurance will be set to Medium
  • Certain Items will be turned off, this includes:
    • N64: Maxim Tomato, Heart, Starman, Hammer
    • Melee: Maxim Tomato, Heart, Food, Starman, Hammer, Cloaking Device
  • We will use Random to choose levels for Original as well as Melee, in Melee the moving levels as well as a few others will be removed.
    • Levels to be removed: Flat Zone, Icicle Mountain, Mute City, Big Blue, Poke Floats.

There will be duels, team matches of 2v2, random character teams, and a free-for-all elimination tournament. No match shall contain the Hammer, Star, Maxim Tomato, or Heart Container. Each player will have veto power over one item. Excepting the random character matches, teams will write their character choices on separate pieces of paper before the match, thus preventing scheming and character switching.
Duels: 1v1 matches. A people from each team participate. Every player battles every player from the other team, yielding a total of A^2 matches. The survivor wins a sub-point.
Total points = <math>A^2</math>
Team Match: 2v2 matches. B pairs from each team will participate. Every pair will battle every pair from the other team, yielding B^2 matches. One sub-point is awarded for victory.
Total points = <math>B^2</math>
Random Character Team Match: Same rules as above, but random characters. Players on a team may switch controllers. Crazy! C pairs participate, having C^2 matches.
Total points = <math>C^2</math>
Free-for-all: An elimination tournament. The structure is determined by how many want to play! Equal numbers from each team, and each starting match contains two players from each team. This will be done for fun if there is time.

Guitar Hero II

  • 2 people Pro Versus on each tier. 8 players from each side.
  • Best at 3 out of 5 songs
  • One point awarded per team per tier, if one player sweeps a tier they will receive 2 points.
  • The first four tiers will be played on hard, and the second four tiers will be played on Expert.
  • If there is a tie Champions from each team will face off on Bonus Songs sequentially until one champion has won two songs in a row.

Starcraft

  • There will be two divisions: Expert and Novice
  • The four best people from each hall will be expert and then the next 4 will be novice.
  • Expert points will total 2/3 of the final score with Novice making up the other 1/3.
  • Each division will play:
    • Best of 3 4v4 - 4 Points
    • Best of 3 2v2 - 2 points
    • Best of 3 1v1 - 1 point
  • Each subBattle will be held on a different map.
  • 2v2 and 1v1 will be random draws for partners and competitors (within each division).
  • The team that won most recently will reveal races first.

Suggested maps on behalf of pi:

  • Wheel of War (4v4)
  • Theater of War (4v4)
  • Blood Bath (2v2)
  • Crash Sites (3v3)
  • BGH (4v4)
  • [insert island map here]

Enemy Territory

  • Matches will be 8v8
  • We will select a few maps and stopwatch best of 5
  • XP will be enabled
  • Honor system on not TKing then reviving

Tetris

  • We will play the Tetris version for the NES
  • This event will be subdivided into two sections: Point challenge and Line challenge

Point challenge: (2 points)
Each hall selects three players. Each player has 20 minutes to try to amass the highest score they can in a single game (you can play multiple games). There are no stipulations on starting level. All three scores are added and the highest total determines the winner. The winning team gets 1 point.
Line challenge: (2 points)
3 players start on some high level 16 - 19 and see how long they can go without dying (time) or how many lines they can get (same idea really). Or you can stratify it with the 3 players, so one starts at 14 one at 16 and one at 19. and compete individually. Either way winning team gets 1 point and we have to figure something out for a tiebreaker.

Mario Kart 64

There are two categories here: Team Racing (2v2) and Battle (2v2).

  • Team racing: Compete in Cup Races Possibly 1 pair per cup race (8 total)
    • Score is based on final spot in at the end of the 4 races.
  • Battle: 2v2 Each Round is worth 1 point

Speed Runs

  • Either Super Mario Brothers or Super Mario World will be selected randomly the day of Competition.
  • Tag Team is allowed but not required.
  • For World Flying through levels is allowed.
  • Winner is first to Clear the Final Castle.

Proposed Competitors

Add yourself under however many categories you want to play. From these numbers we will determine the team sizes. This may mean cutting or drafting people, depending on which way people lean.
