Housing proposals

current residence

On the ledge under the chalkboard.

Advantages: extant, accessible, large.

Disadvantages: Chalky, no room for growth, slacker.

Design 1: corner bookshelf

In the Northwest corner, behind the sofa.

Design - tall: floor to ledge. ~5 layers of shelving. two shelves at each level, facing 90 degrees, so as to sit in the corner nicely. Maybe put a fern on top. Or a fern with a built in wireless...

Advantgages: Classy, Easy to build, fits all sizes of books, adjustable, large enough for lots of books, takes advantage of underutilized space.

Disadvantages: Books on lower shelves hard to access. Requires work, and materials.

Design 2: under cocoa shelves/doors

Under the cocoa ledge, in the alcove

Design - Two hinged bookshelves are flush with the wall and ledge. they swing out in opposite directions to access the space behind, creating an awesome hidden section with the classic bookshelf door.

Advantages: Is awesome, Keeps the books accessible, decently sized.

Disadvantages: Books may fall out of shelves when door opened, Size of book limited by size of shelf. Difficult to construct, Not moveable, requires strong materials, and inteligent engineering to prevent sagging.

Design 3: something we havent thought of yet

Design - ?

Advantages: There is nothing we can think of about it that is worse than the other two plans.

Disadvantages: We cant see any reason why it is better than the other two plans.
